Somewhere during the process of evolution, every species decided that internally producing the vitamin C was the best option, while Humans and Guinea pigs decided against it, making life just that little bit harder.
As the human body can only store a tiny amount of vitamin C, and for only a short period of time, the body’s supply quickly becomes depleted if fresh supplies are not consumed. So each day we must consume plenty of vitamin C rich foods to survive, all the while the lowly mountain goat will manufacture more than 13000 mg of vitamin C a day, with amount increasing largely when under stress of trauma.
Did You Know? The best sources of Vitamin C are red capsicums, that can contain more than 10 times more vitamin C than oranges.
Citrus fruits such as lemons, limes grapefruit and obviously oranges are all also excellent sources.
